A deep look

Anan tried his best to put himself into the situations, looking at things by a merciful heart, and contemplating their underlying reasons. For example, if he wanted to understand a homosexual or a prostitute, he must put himself into their positions to understand their misery and happiness. He constantly asked why questions to dig deep into the issue. If one looks by the loving eyes, he will see no enemies but friends. If one looks deeply, he will see how miserable people are in their life; they cannot afford to speak up, interact with knowledge, or practice spiritual life, so many of them worship the wrong things. They do not know that their misbehaviors are wrong, they insist they are right. If Anan imposed sanction or embargo on a nation without deeply looking into their actions, that decision would be pure ignorance that could lead to dangers to the whole nation such as civil war, poverty, illiteracy or theft. What he wanted to do was yet to be fulfilled but many other problems arose. It is similar to seeing a flower wither before it even blooms because it lacks care, light, and water… Similarly, people are feeble when they lack care, nurture, and many other things so they think and act in such a feeble way. One must look after them very carefully to learn to love them.

The dispute between Thailand and Cambodia over the border around Preah Vihear temple should be resolved using deep understanding. The monks at the temple would surely worry when seeing the two parties pointing guns at each other, and definitely not want the war to break out. The monks should invite the soldiers to the temple to practice meditation or walking meditation together. The image of the monks walking unhurriedly would make the soldiers feel pity that they stopped what is called territory dispute.
